I went to the juried student art show on Sat. feb 5th.  I was with 2 friends and we were alone in the whole museum, no distractions.  The most elaborate of pieces I felt was this room decorated like a bedroom with photos on the wall, and a television displaying unpleasing images of a woman simulating birthing flowers.  The video was well done, but disturbing.  The photos were aligned with the video's repulsion.  It seemed to wholly represent a teenagers' self sexual perversions and confusion.  There were a couple of pieces I recognized as friends' work. A gorilla made of wood by Michael (?) from my foundations 1 class last semester that I thought was the best "puppet" of anyone's.  And a photo taken by Al (Cruzen?)  of a woman whom I know is, in a church service caught up in the holy fervor, expressing pain and holding her abdomen which I relate to the pain of Christ's suffering.  I saw a few pieces I felt were incomplete, but a great start on an idea.  This statue of half a human's lower body smothered with bee's wax and instead of a torso it's cut off and topped by  waxy paper strands.  Another good idea I saw was the assembly of about 30 neck-ties lying on the floor.  Each tie bends and curves and are elevated off the ground by using wire or something. Each were cool ideas, but not taken to their highest potential.   It was a joyous occasion overall and I'm going to go back to see the "Through a Glass Darkly" exhibit ASAP.
